I’ve given normal scones a Valentines Twist with a Heart Shaped cutter and fresh strawberry pieces this week! This is a really simple recipe so I’d really recommend giving it a try! 🙂 You will need:
Ingredients:
- 450g Self Raising Flour
- 120g Unsalted Butter
- 50g Caster Sugar
- 100g Chopped Fresh Strawberries
- 1/2 Tsp Salt
- 1/2 Tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
- Milk (approx 1/4 cup)
Preheat your oven to 190 oC / 375 oF, then rub together your butter and flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.
Next, pour in the Sugar and chopped Strawberries and stir in.
Pop the Bicarbonate of Soda and Salt in and stir again.
Add the Milk, a little at a time, stirring continually until you have a soft, slightly sticky dough! You may need more milk than 1/4 Cup, just keep adding tiny bits until you have a good consistency.
Place the dough onto a lightly floured work surface and roll out to approx a 1 inch thickness.
Cut out your shapes (you don’t have to go with hearts of course)! I got approx 12 mini scones.
Place them on a baking tray and pop into the oven for 12-15 minutes.
Once cooked, cool on a baking tray and prepare your fillings! I used extra thick double cream, strawberry conserve and fresh strawberries to garnish!
Serve and scoff! These are best eaten within a few days so a perfect excuse to eat them all in one sitting, or with an afternoon tea!
Happy Baking,
Jem x
